“Home Stretch” – Oct. 2011

Stretching for Home!  The checkered flag awaits our arrival.  The finish line is within sight.  Home plate is within our reach.  A run is about to be scored.  The “team player” is rounding third base and heading for home.  The crowds are cheering; the fans are going crazy—Hebrews 12:1-2!

The Patience of Job – July 2011

The Book of James makes reference to the sufferings of Job and invites the Christian Community to exercise

patience and endurance as they live through the trials and tribulations of life under the sun, awaiting the parousia of Christ (James 5:7-11).  The Lord is coming with the same certainty as the spring and fall rains.  The harvest is not in doubt; it is fully guaranteed.  God is faithful; His mercies are new every morning.  Is this blessed assurance enough, or do we still require more satisfying answers and explanations?  James writes, “As an example of suffering and patience, beloved, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.  Continue Reading…
