Confirmation Grades 2-4
Year One: “The Welcome Table”
During the month of January, second-fourth graders gather for four consecutive weeks to explore the gift of Holy Communion and the word of welcome offered to all the baptized at the Table of our Lord. Participants receive a children’s book titled, The Welcome Table and learn to sing a new song by the same name.
Year Two: “Bible Reading & Family Devotions”
During the month of January, second-fourth graders gather for four consecutive weeks to learn about the gift of God’s Word in the life of God’s people. Bibles and family devotions are recieved in a Service Investiture held during a worship service. In-home family devotions, based on the Gospel of Mark, help young people and their families experience the importance of God’s Word in family life. During the months of February and March Pastor will visit the youth in their home and discuss Reading and Family Devotions.
Year Three: “Baptism”
During the month of January, second-fourth graders gather for four consecutive weeks to learn about the Great Commission and the importance of “walking wet” in daily life. Discipleship is a major focus of the class, and together with their parents, each student learns the song “Go, Make Disciples” by Handt Hanson. Students each make a baptismal banner as a keepsake reminder of their baptisimal birthday and the promises of God bestowed in the washing of regeneration. These banners are hung in the worship space and each child is prayed for during worship.
